Utilizing THE MAYRON COLE GROUP PIANO CURRICULUM
Music is a gift from God. Freely we receive from Him. Freely we share with others. Come and discover the excitement of Group Piano, Guitar & Voices Classes!
Course Descriptions (Ages 5 to Adult)
Have you always wanted to learn to play the piano? Many adults wish they had taken lessons as a child or wish they had continued lessons as a child! Being musically literate will enable you to be an independent musician, allow you to work through new assignments on your own and to purchase music and learn it by yourself!
E-Z Keys/Menehune This Primer piano class is for ages 5-6, begins Fall semester with E-Z Keys and continues Spring semester with Menehune. Children learn the first two steps of piano playing readiness: mastery of rhythmic counting and knowledge of keyboard geography.
Level 1 Beginners learn the three steps of piano playing: mastery of rhythmic counting, keyboard geography, and proficient staff note reading. (Young Beginner = ages 6-7, Older Beginner = ages 8-10.)
Level 2, Beginner Students will continue to expand their keyboard knowledge, rhythm, music concepts, and focus on learning the bass clef notes.
Level 3, Advanced Beginner After mastering the bass clef in Level 2, students will move on to more new notes in the treble clef, harmony, and beginning piano technique. They will also be introduced to the classics.
Level 4, Early Intermediate The skills developed in the early levels will pay off in Level 4! Students are introduced to triads, chord inversions, compound rhythm, harmony exploration, leger line notes, and much more.
Level 5, Intermediate The music at this level keeps the students motivated by using compound rhythm, 16th notes, and triplets. Classic favorites in their original form include history lessons.
Piano for Busy Adults Play Piano Now is a piano course for adults who have never studied piano before but have a strong desire to try it out.
Guitar
The guitar is an extremely well known and widely used instrument in all areas of the world. Learning to play the guitar opens the gates to many forms of music, as well as self expression. Guitar playing allows for a great deal of creativity and freedom of style, and has the potential to bolster confidence and provide a sense of accomplishment. Guitar lessons will include an introduction to basic chords and harmonies, as well as reading tablature. Students will learn to care for their instruments, with instruction in proper tuning techniques, changing strings, and cleaning and storage of the instrument. Specific literature to be studied will be determined by the teacher and the student.
Beginning Guitar The beginner guitar students study basic music concepts, while having fun playing the guitar in a group class. Course content includes learning to play chords, to accompany in a variety of styles, and to read lead line notation. Jr. Guitar (ages 8 – 11), Older Beginner Guitar (ages 12 – adults).
Voice
Singing is one of the most natural forms of musical expression known to man, and vocalization is one of the earliest signs of communication in young children. Singers are the only musicians who carry their instruments with them wherever they go, and who can use their instruments for several different purposes. Learning to sing properly and to maintain a healthy voice is not only musically beneficial, but can also assist in dramatic and public speaking. Private voice lessons consist of weekly, 30 or 45 minute sessions of one-on-one instruction. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of breathing and tone placement and are instructed in the proper care of their voices. Many genres of music are studied, including classical, folk, sacred, opera, musical theater, and popular. Students will be assigned a wide variety of literature to reinforce lessons in music history and theory. Special attention can also be paid to preparation of music for specific events, such as auditions, competitions, school performances, and dramatic roles. Lessons will be tailored to the age and ability level of each individual student.
Voice Classes: “Learning to Sing” Voice students, ages 4 - senior adults will discover the fun and artistry of learning to sing. Singing classes will help students with developing the techniques of good vocal reproduction.

Tuition and Materials
A $40 deposit fee per semester reserves a student’s place in a class. This fee covers all materials needed for the class for the semester. The deposit is non-refundable. Tuition is $80 per month, totaling 4 payments per semester. Make all checks payable to PianoRAMA.
Instructor interviews are required for placement of all new and transfer students. The purpose of the interview is to acquaint parent and student with the courses we offer, and PianoRAMA’s goals, objectives, policies, and contract. The Mayron Cole Piano Method is built on the three basis steps of learning to play the piano: (1) rhythm reading, (2) keyboard knowledge, and (3) staff note reading. Mrs. Cole, a highly regarded teacher, composer, and clinician, has developed the nation’s leading group piano method. PianoRAMA instructors are certified to teach the Mayron Cole Method.
