As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music I offer private piano and voice lessons in a well-equipped music studio. Students learn all the aspects of music including but limited to sight-reading, technique, music theory, voice training,  scales and related technical work, repertoire, etc. for a well-rounded music education. Students have use of a Yamaha Conservatory Grand Piano, a Yamaha Portable DGX-505 midi digital piano with print-out capabilities for original compositions, computers with music theory and sight-reading programs, CD and DVD professional recording equipment. Vocal students have a large flat-screen t.v. on which their lyrics scroll as they learn pieces and have a library of karaoke CD's from which to choose. For concertos and duets I accompany them on a Steinway Grand Piano. Students have ample opportunities for performances and awards. My goal is to nurture each student so that he or she develops their musical skills to the extent that they wish.
About Diane Miller
 I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and also New York State Certified: which is a statement of high professional standards and commitment to excellence. This Professional Certification is in Applied Music, and Piano, from the Music Teachers National Association.
I give piano and voice lessons at Miller Music Studios at my home in Middletown, New York. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in performance and music education in piano and voice from the Ithaca College School of Music. I also have a Diploma from the former Shumiatcher School of Music in Westchester County where I was later on the faculty teaching both the Suzuki and Conservatory approaches in piano.
I have experience as a music teacher in the public school system; teaching K-12 Elementary through High School music history, music literature and theory, Kodaly and Orff Schulwerk. I am an experienced accompanist, church pianist and choral director.
I have concertized at Steinway Hall, New York City, and have performed on WNYC Radio. I have also concertized in Westchester County and in upstate New York concert halls, theatres and churches. I was competition winner in the National Collegiate Category of the New York State Music Teachers Association, District 7.
I am the Chairman of the National Guild of Piano Teachers in Middletown, NY and am the Ambassador of the Royal American Conservatory Exams in this locale. As an active member of the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), I serve as Chairman of the Middletown Division Annual Spring Music Festival, a position I have held since 1993. I have served on the Board of Directors and as Student Auditions Chairman for the State of New York Collegiate Level Piano Competition for NFMC. As an active member of Music Teachers National Association, District 5, I have served as Treasurer and Judges Committee Chairman for the Annual December Music Festival and have served as Music Festival Chairman.
Currently I am continuing my studies of the Taubman Piano Performance Technique privately with Sondra Tammam, Co-Director of the Taubman Institute in New York City. I have studied privately with Constance Keene from the Manhattan School of Music, Bella Shumiatcher, Simone Belsky, Beveridge Webster who were all Juilliard Professors, Martino Tirimo in London, England formerly of the Royal Academy of Music, Mary Ann Covert, Orissa Jensen, Miriam Brickman, Katherine Teves-Mizruchi all concert pianists, and Margaret Kirchner from the Diller-Quaile School of Music, and have performed in Master Class with Ruth Laredo.
I teach beginners through advanced levels. My students perform solo and joint recitals (both piano and vocal) and receive high awards and honors in competitions and adjudications.

BILLING POLICY
A) Lesson Fees:
As a member in good standing with the New York State Music Teachers Association, the Music Teachers National Association and several other professional music organizations, there are certain guidelines to which I strictly adhere regarding missed lessons, the billing process and late fees. Currently, my monthly rates for piano lessons are as follows:

Lessons will be billed at a four week month regardless of how many lessons/weeks fall in each month. THESE MONTHLY FEES RESERVE A TIME SLOT which works like rent one would pay for an apartment. These are flat fees to reserve your or your child's weekly time for lessons WHETHER YOU CHOOSE TO ATTEND OR MISS. Fees are charged by the month, and are not lowered nor refunded for missed lessons. Please bear in mind that, during the year, some months will contain an extra week for which there is no additional charge. It is highly recommended that you attend regularly during these months, helping you to compensate for any lesson(s) you may have missed during the year. Extra single lessons are paid at the beginning of that lesson as follows:

B) Other Fees:
1. Registration Fee: There is a $30.00 per family Registration Fee at the time a student signs up for lessons and each September thereafter.
2. Recital Fee: Due to the rising costs for our recitals, tickets costing $5.00 each will now be required for the audience attendees. This includes the Christmas Musicale and the Spring Recital. Performers do not need a ticket.
3. Adjudications: The National Federation of Music Clubs, the Piano Guild, the MTNA auditions, and other competitions of this nature charge a participation fee. Students who qualify and want to participate pay the Studio the fee charged by the organization and the Studio pays the organization one lump sum.
4. Materials: The student is given the books, metronome, and other materials needed for study at lessons and home practice and the parent reimburses the Studio for the cost.
