Anthony Serafini violinVIOLIN LESSONS IN A FRIENDLY, COMFORTABLE SETTING. Anthony Serafini is Adjunct Professor of Violin at Centenary College of NJ in Hackettstown, which draws students from all parts of the globe. (NOTE: You do NOT have to be a student at the college to take lessons from me.) Begining to Advanced/Children&Adults.

We concentrate heavily on the basics, such as left and right hand position, the three essentials of tone production, detache', ricochet, martele' bowing, etc. developing a good vibrato, sight reading and so forth. We schedule recitals for our students at regular intervals.

Every year our students give recitals and prepare for prestigious competitions. One of our students, fast approaching virtuoso level, will be competing in the NJ Symphony's YOUNG ARTISTS Competition.

Anthony Serafini won the 1st prize in the Premier New York Violin Competion and numerous other awards. He first studied with Ralph Wade. He then graduated from Cornell, Syracuse and Harvard Universities, where he studied with Karl Husa, legendary violinist Louis Krasner(first to premier and record the Berg Violin Concerto), University of Minnesota Violin Virtuoso and Professor of Violin Young-Nam Kim and Arnold Steinhardt, first violin of the Guarneri String Quartet. He has been lst violin with the Cornell Symphony conducted by Czech composer Karl Husa, the Syracuse Symphony; Binghamton Symphonies and has given numerous recitals at Centenary College, Boston State College as well as many public schools, churches etc. He has won three Distinguished Teaching awards.

He is listed on the web site VIOLINISTS ON THE WEB (www.angelfire.com/music5/violinistspage/) among 400 of the world's most eminent violinists, past and present.  Recently, he has been invited by Maestro Giacomo Franci to play with the New York Chamber Players. Mr. Franci is the Artistic Director and the Conductor of the Chamber Players and made his debut as a major concert pianist in 1998 at Carnegie Hall. In addition to his music studies, Mr. Serafini has a graduate degree in philosophy.
 
He is also senior member of the American String Teachers Association. Lesson rates are $26/half-hour, and $48/hour. With a child, where we use the Suzuki method, we encourage a parent to be present at all lessons so that they may act as a coach when he/she practices at home.
